Malachi is the final book of the Old Testament and delivers God’s message to a spiritually complacent post-exilic community. Through a series of confrontational dialogues, God exposes the people’s halfhearted worship, corrupt leadership, broken covenants, and fading devotion. Malachi calls Israel back to genuine obedience and prepares the way for the coming Messiah.

Context: After returning from exile and rebuilding the temple, the people had slipped into apathy. The book closes with a promise of Elijah’s coming, pointing forward to John the Baptist and the arrival of Christ.
