Ezra

Ezra records the return of the Jewish exiles from Babylon and the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem. The book highlights God’s faithfulness in restoring His people, the importance of worship, and the need for spiritual renewal. Ezra shows how God works through leaders, kings, and ordinary people to accomplish His purposes.

Context: After 70 years in Babylonian exile, God moved the heart of King Cyrus to allow the Jews to return home. The first group rebuilt the altar and temple foundations but faced opposition and discouragement. Years later, Ezra the scribe led a second return focused on spiritual reform and teaching God’s law. The book emphasizes obedience, purity, and the central role of worship.
